Anxiety Busters!
A 6 session group designed to help young people understand how anxiety works and how to overcome it. Separate groups run for Primary and High School students.
Autism Support Groups for Kids!
JBCP offers a range of groups specially designed to help kids with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) learn skills related to making and keeping friends, surviving and thriving at school, and increasing their confidence and independence. Current Groups:
Play and social interaction training for children with an ASD in Preschool and Kindergarten. Children practice skills such as starting a game, turn taking and sharing, all in the supportive environment of a group of children their age.
A group designed to cover issues related to the social and behavioural demands of primary school, such as, coping with anxiety, controlling emotions, handling changes, and building friendships.
Anger Busters!
A 6 session group (run separately for primary and high school students) which helps young people understand their own anger. Topics include identifying anger triggers, coping with frustration, solving problems happily, and being assertive the right way!
For Parents!
A 10 hour course which explores the nature of oppositional behaviour in children and how to best manage it as a parent.
A 10 hour course which explains the nature of
autism spectrum disorder, updates on effective treatments, and provides home-based strategies
for improving the child's communication,
social skills, and behaviour.
For emerging teens, this group focuses on issues related to the transition to high school, such as, taking greater responsibility, increasing independence and understanding complex emotions, feelings & relationships.
