Reading Clinic
JBCP provide assessment and diagnosis of brain-based reading disorder (or dyslexia). Following diagnosis, we offer an in-depth reading remediation program which the student completes at home with the assistance of a parent. The program uses a mix of computer-based activities, reading drills, sight-word memorisation, and skills worksheets. While completing the 24 units of study, children typically attend a clinic-based session once a fortnight in order to monitor progress and adjust workloads.
Many children make very significant gains using this program, even when they have had long standing reading difficulties which have not improved with traditional remediation. JBCP conducts research into the program's effectiveness. Our current research is investigating the effectiveness of home-based treatment programs.
